An Ode to Our Founding Director, Ms Tazmina Kassam

14 June 2026
Some people leave behind memories.
Some leave behind achievements.
And some leave behind something far greater: a legacy that continues to live through the lives they have touched.
On 14 June 2026, Millennium Global International School lost its beloved Founding Director, Ms Tazmina Kassam. Yet, even as we mourn her passing, we are reminded that the true measure of a life is not simply the years one has lived, but the love, values, opportunities and inspiration one leaves behind.
For Millennium Global International School, Ms Tazmina was not simply its Founder and Director. She was the heart of the school.
She envisioned a school that would be different. A school where children would not merely be educated, but nurtured. A school where academic excellence would exist alongside kindness, compassion, humility and integrity. A school where every child would be known, valued and encouraged to discover their potential.
From that vision, Millennium Global International School was born.
What began as an idea became a community, and that community became a family.
Ms Tazmina believed deeply in the power of education to transform lives. She understood that a school is not defined only by its curriculum, examination results or facilities. It is defined by the character it develops, the confidence it builds and the values it instils.
Her philosophy was reflected in every aspect of the school she created.
She believed in excellence without arrogance, discipline without harshness, ambition without losing humility, and achievement without losing compassion.
She believed that children should be taught not only how to succeed, but also how to become good human beings.
That philosophy became the foundation upon which MGIS was built.
Over the years, countless children passed through the school gates. They came as young learners, full of curiosity and promise, and left carrying knowledge, confidence, friendships and memories that would remain with them long after they had graduated.
Behind each of those journeys was a woman who cared deeply.
Ms Tazmina had an extraordinary ability to make people feel that they mattered. She cared about the smallest details because she understood that it was often the smallest details that made the greatest difference to a child.
She celebrated achievements. She encouraged those who struggled. She believed in second chances. She challenged people to do better, while reminding them never to lose sight of what truly matters.
For her, education was always personal.
And perhaps that is why MGIS never felt like simply a school.
It felt like a family.
Her influence extended far beyond the classroom. She shaped the culture of the school, guided its staff, supported its families and helped generations of students understand that success carries with it a responsibility to others.
She taught us, through her own example, the importance of honesty, loyalty, perseverance, empathy, humility and service.
These were not merely words.
They were values she lived.
As we look around MGIS today, we see her legacy everywhere.
We see it in the confidence of our students.
We see it in the dedication of our teachers.
We see it in the relationships that have been built between families and the school.
We see it in the opportunities given to children to discover their talents, serve others and make a difference.
We see it in every child who walks through the school gates with the belief that they can achieve something meaningful.
And we see it in the generations of students who will continue to carry the values she instilled in them into the wider world.
That is the extraordinary thing about a true educator.
Their work does not end when they leave.
It continues through every child they have inspired.
It continues through every teacher they have mentored.
It continues through every family whose life they have touched.
It continues through every act of kindness that was inspired by their example.
Ms Tazmina's legacy therefore cannot be measured in buildings, awards, examination results or milestones alone. Those achievements are important, and she was rightly proud of them, but they are only part of her story.
Her greatest achievement was the community she created.
A community built on the belief that education should develop the whole person.
A community where children could grow academically, emotionally and socially.
A community where people were encouraged to look beyond themselves and to understand the importance of compassion, responsibility and service.
That is the legacy we will carry forward.
Her passing has left an immense void. There are moments when the absence of someone becomes particularly difficult to accept, especially when their presence had become such an integral part of everyday life.
But alongside the sadness is gratitude.
Gratitude that we had the privilege of knowing her.
Gratitude for the vision she gave us.
Gratitude for the children whose lives she changed.
Gratitude for the teachers and families she brought together.
And gratitude for the school that she entrusted to future generations.
We honour her not by allowing her memory to remain in the past, but by continuing the work she began.
We honour her by protecting the values upon which MGIS was founded.
We honour her by continuing to believe in every child.
We honour her by nurturing excellence while remaining compassionate.
We honour her by building a school community where integrity matters, where kindness matters and where every individual is treated with dignity.
And above all, we honour her by ensuring that the vision she had for MGIS continues to flourish.
There will be many who remember Ms Tazmina for different reasons.
Some will remember the Founder and Director.
Some will remember a mentor.
Some will remember a leader.
Some will remember a colleague.
Some will remember a friend.
And many will simply remember a woman who cared.
But all of these memories belong to the same extraordinary story.
The story of a woman who believed that education could change lives, and who devoted herself to making that belief a reality.
Her journey may have come to an end, but her legacy has not.
It lives in the corridors of Millennium Global International School.
It lives in the classrooms.
It lives in the laughter of our students.
It lives in the dedication of our teachers.
It lives in the memories of our alumni.
It lives in the hearts of the families who knew her.
And it will live on in every generation of students who passes through the school she built.
As we remember our Founding Director, we do so with profound sadness, but also with immense love, respect and gratitude.
May we always remember the woman who believed in the transformative power of education.
May we always remember the woman who built a school with the heart of a family.
And may we always remember that the greatest legacy a person can leave is not what they accumulated, but what they gave, what they taught and the lives they helped shape.
Thank you, Ms Tazmina, for giving us Millennium Global International School.
Thank you for believing in its children.
Thank you for believing in its people.
Thank you for showing us that education is ultimately an act of service, love and faith in the future.
Your name will forever be woven into the story of MGIS.
Your vision will continue to guide us.
Your values will continue to shape us.
And your legacy will continue to live on.
With love, gratitude and eternal remembrance.
